     A Little History

Bernstein is a German word and translates to Amber.  Amber is a natural fossil resin and comes chiefly from the resins of pine trees that grew in northern Europe millions of years ago.  The largest supply of Amber lies in the Baltic Sea area.  Experts consider this Amber to be the only true Amber.  It is from these deposits that the beads used in our teething necklaces are fashioned. The historic Amber trade, following the famous “Amber Trail” from Northern Poland, east to the Ukraine and ending at Odessa on the Black Sea, shows us what a very valuable asset Amber must have been for the old cultured people of Europe.  Several thousand years ago the ancient Greeks observed that Amber attracted bits of lightweight material, such as feathers or straw, after it was rubbed with cloth.  Although the Greeks did not know about electrical charge they were actually experimenting with static electricity when they rubbed Amber.  It is the electrical charge that gives the healing power to the Amber stone.  Interestingly, the Greek word for Amber is Elektron – the English words for electricity and electron come from this word.

Amber is a Bio-transmitter comparable to aromatherapy and homeopathy.  The necklace is worn under the clothing next to the skin.  It is best worn all the time removing only to clean or when the child is swimming or bathing.  In our experience the child rarely touches or fiddles with the necklace.  When the

I bought the Amber Teething Necklace from Amber NZ Ltd after much thought. 
I looked at other ones, that were indeed cheaper, but were knotted
individually.  After speaking to Kathy from Amber NZ Ltd, I agreed that the
Amber beads would need to rub against each other in order to work most
efficiently.  So I went ahead with the purchase.  What a difference it made
to our 8 month old Jack.  From the first day he was at least 5 times
happier, and finally sleeping through the night again.  And, two weeks
later, is still sleeping through.  I was concerned that the necklace would
bother him but he has never taken any notice of it at all.  Thanks for the
